Quinnipiac Avenue in North Haven was closed for several hours on Wednesday after a pedestrian was struck and killed by an SUV.
The North Haven Fire Department says that police and fire crews were on the scene of a pedestrian hit by a motor vehicle in the area of Quinnipiac Avenue, near the intersection of Middletown Avenue (Route 17).

Police say at 6:15 a.m., a 60-year-old New Haven man had exited a city bus on Quinnipiac Avenue near Cindy Lane. Then while crossing the street on his way to work, a vehicle that was traveling south on Quinnipiac Avenue hit him.
The man was pronounced dead on scene.

The driver stayed on scene and is cooperating with police.

The victim’s identity will be released after his family has been notified.

The accident remains under investigation by the South Central Connecticut Traffic Unit.
