Francisco Acosta is supposed to report to Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Monday to show officials that he that has a plane ticket for a flight back to Colombia in January.
Acosta says he fled his native country in 2001 to escape violence and direct threats to his life. Acosta says he has next to no family left in Colombia, since his parents and siblings are now either citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. He also cares for his sick 82-year-old mother.
There was a rally in Hartford in support of Acosta outside of the Federal Building on Monday morning.
