Recovering addict reacts to tainted drugs in New Haven

News

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – As New Haven deals with a rash of overdoses from some tainted drugs, people struggling with drug addiction are stunned by what’s happening.

News 8 talked with Justin Louis Friday, on his way home from a methadone clinic in New Haven. He says hearing about the string of overdoses gives him added pressure to keep off of drugs.

“It really makes me want to stay clean. You never know what’s in those bags. Us as addicts, we hear about people overdosing. We think its a great batch, we want to go get that” Louis said.

Louis says his addiction started with pills, eventually graduating to heroin.  He says he’s been clean for two years.
