Mystic Aquarium releases rescued seal back to sea

Regional News

Mystic’s Aquarium’s animal rescue program returned another seal to the ocean on Monday.

“Woolf,” a female harp seal, was released on Monday morning at Charlestown, Rhode Island’s Blue Shutters Beach.

Woolf was treated for dehydration and multiple wounds after being rescued in March in Westerly, R.I.

During her treatment at Mystic, she gained 20 pounds. Now, tipping the scales at healthy 60 pounds, she’s been deemed ready for life back at sea.

Mystic Aquarium’s Animal Rescue Team encourages the community to call the 24-hour hotline at 860-572-5955 x107 if you spot an injured or deceased animal.
