Regional News

A nurse in the Gloversville school district was arrested after being accused of sexually abusing a young child.

According to police, Teddy Germain, of Amsterdam, was working as a Licensed Practical Nurse, or LPN, at Kingsborogh Elementary School in Gloversville at the time of the alleged incident.

Police said the 46-year-old subjected a child less than 11 years old to sexual contact.

Germain turned himself in to police and was charged with Sexual Abuse in the First Degree.

The investigation is ongoing and any parent that believes that their child was subjected to unnecessary contact is encouraged to contact Gloversville Police.

The school district released a statement Friday night:

The Gloversville Enlarged School District has been informed by the Gloversville Police Department that an elementary school nurse has been arrested for alleged sexual abuse of a student.

On Friday, Dec. 21, police reported the arrest of Teddy Germain, who was employed as a licensed practical nurse in the district’s elementary schools.

The district had alerted police immediately after learning of the allegation, and immediately placed Germain on administrative leave. He is no longer employed by the district.

“The district is extremely disturbed about the nature of these allegations,” Superintendent David Halloran said. “We will continue to assist police in any way we can. Anyone with concerns should contact Gloversville Police.”

As this is a police investigation, the district cannot comment further
