A 34-year-old man who was on a trip with his brother to scatter their father’s ashes when their plane crashed has died.
The Plymouth District Attorney’s Office said Saturday that Scott Landis died from injuries he sustained in the crash on Friday. Officials say his brother, 29-year-old Patrick Landis, remains hospitalized.
The brothers’ uncle, Donald Conway, told reporters that the men were scattering the ashes of their father.
The Boston Globe reports Scott Landis was a Black Hawk helicopter pilot with the Army National Guard.
An aerial photo of the scene showed the small yellow plane with its front severely damaged in a body of water.
The district attorney’s office said a man walking his dog found the partially submerged plane and called 911.
