Connecticut’s Mashantucket-Pequot and Mohegan tribes are being viewed as viable candidates to overtake MGM’s new Springfield casino.

The Hartford Courant reports (https://cour.at/2JfLn6B) the two tribes would be seen as the top option to take over the casino if MGM looks to acquire a developing casino near Boston.

The publication states MGM is facing a roadblock with a Massachusetts law stating that only one of three gambling licenses in Massachusetts can be held by individual casino operators.

According to the Courant, John DeCree, a director and analyst at Union Gambling in Las Vegas, stated that a joint purchase of MGM Springfield by the two tribes could move forward no matter the outcome of the proposed East Windsor casino.
