Regional News

The New England Patriots big win at the Super Bowl turned out to be a big loss for the state of Rhode Island.

The state’s two casinos lost nearly $900,000 on sports betting in February after winning bets for the Super Bowl and other pro events were paid out.

Gamblers placed 20.7 million in wagers.

The casinos paid out nearly 21.6 million on winning bets.

Since November, Rhode Island has seen only $150,000 in sports betting revenue.
