Retired West Haven firefighter dies of sustained injuries from accident 20 years ago


Some sad news from the West Haven Fire Department.

A retired firefighter-paramedic has died of injuries he suffered nearly 20 years ago on the job.

James ‘Woody’ Woodman passed away Friday morning.

Woodman was critically injured on October 5, 1999 when his ambulance collided with a car outside Yale-New Haven Hospital.

His family will announce plans for a memorial service at a later date.
