Scammers use voice-cloning software to leave voicemails posing as people you know

(WTNH) — A warning from the Better Business Bureau about a new phone scam. Now scammers are using new voice-cloning software to leave voicemails.

The technology mimics voices from audio samples from people you know. Then scammers create voicemail messages to try to convince you to send them money.

The BBB thinks the scam will hit businesses first. But, of course, they won’t stop there.
