Fire officials say that there was a gas leak on Brushy Plain Road and as a precaution, houses in the immediate area of that gas leak were evacuated.
According to police, the gas leak is under control and the gas company is on scene.
“Crew were working up here and had uncovered a gas line yesterday, reuncovering it today they struck the gas line. It was a high pressure line. We secured our water source for anything that would go wrong,” said Capt. Craig O’Rourke, Branford Fire Dept.
Brushy Plain Road is now back open and residents are allowed to return to their homes.
Police say that there is no danger to the public.
