The South Windsor Fire Department responded to a house fire call on Tuesday, closing Long Hill Road between Pleasant Valley Road and Chapel Road for some time. 

According to South Windsor firefighters, responders received the call at 4:02 p.m. of a house fire with smoke coming from the side of the house and roof. 

Firefighters arrived on scene and an officer and a citizen could hear dogs inside the home.

The officer and citizen attempted to enter, but the smoke condition was to intense.  With the door open they were able to call for the dogs and all three dogs were assisted out of the home.

Three cats were located and treated on scene with donated pet oxygen masks and with assistance and transported to a local emergency vet. 

The home was a single story wood frame home that suffered fire damage in two rooms – the living room and kitchen with some damage throughout. 

According to officials, no injuries were reported. The home owners did arrive while Fire Department was on scene. The family will be staying with local family members.

South Windsor firefighters successfully put out the fire.

The Fire Marshal were on scene conducting the origin and cause investigation.
