News

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)- One Southington teen is making educating the world his mission. He’s hoping to help others by collecting school supplies and distributing it.

Founder of Planting Pencils, Ishaan Patel, 13, and his mother Dr. Alpa Patel stopped by Good Morning CT to share what inspired them to start the non-profit organization in December.

They spoke about the discrepancy in resources schools suffer from nationally and internationally.

This is their mission statement on their website:

“The mission of Planting Pencils is to raise awareness that every child in the world has a right to basic, free, quality education and to give support to underfunded schools in low-income areas in the US and underdeveloped countries where many children have no access or limited access to basic education.”
