Southington votes to raise tobacco sale age to 21

News

Southington is the latest Connecticut town to raise the age to buy tobacco.

On Monday night, the Southington Town Council passed an ordinance to raise the sale age from 18 to 21.

Hartford, Bridgeport and South Windsor recently passed similar measures.

There is also a bill being considered by state lawmakers to raise the tobacco sale age to 21 throughout Connecticut.
