State Police: Naugatuck man arrested with over 8 lbs. of marijuana in Trumbull

News

TRUMBULL, Conn. (WTNH)– A Naugatuck man was arrested with over 3,000 grams of marijuana during a traffic stop in Trumbull, early Monday morning.

Connecticut State Police say at around 12:15 a.m., a white 2014 Volkswagen Passat was stopped on Route 8 south, at exit 7. Troopers say the car failed to move over a lane and almost struck a stopped state police cruiser, with the emergency lights activated.

According to police, probable cause was developed to search the car and during the course of the investigation, the passenger, identified as 21-year-old Jonathan Ven, admitted to having a small amount of marijuana.

However, a large plastic container with 3,645 grams (over 8 lbs.) of marijuana was also found.

Ven then allegedly told police that the marijuana was mailed to him so he could sell it.

Ven was arrested and charged possession with intent to sell 1 kg or more cannabis and possession of a controlled substance: hallucinogenic sub/4 oz. marijuana. He was held on a $100,000 bond.
