State police search for driver who allegedly struck a bicyclist in Mansfield

News

State police are looking for a driver who they say fled the scene of a crash after hitting a bicyclist in Mansfield on Tuesday.

At 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, officials say troopers responded to reports of an evading motor vehicle accident at E.O. Smith High School in the town of Mansfield.

Authorities say a white dual cab GMC or Chevrolet pick-up truck with black rims struck a bicyclist while leaving the school’s parking lot.

State police say the truck was parked at the school before the accident. They say surveillance footage shows it picked up a passenger in front of the school before it traveled to the exit where the accident occurred.

Following the accident, officials say the truck fled the scene and continued south on Route 195.

There are no serious injuries reported at this time, according to authorities.

Connecticut State Police are asking that anyone with information about the owner or driver of the truck to contact TFC Loftis at justin.loftis@ct.gov or 860-896-3200.
