STRATFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Connecticut State Police responded to Stratford for an officer-involved shooting Friday night.

Eastern Major Crime Squad detectives were requested by Hartford State’s attorney to assume the investigation.

Stratford police were on Main Street at approximately 7:30 p.m. to serve an arrest warrant for 36-year-old Christopher Hagans who was wanted on home invasion and strangulation charges out of Naugatuck.

The suspect was observed entering a vehicle at which time Stratford Police Officers attempted a traffic stop where ‘force was used.’

That’s when officers started shooting. Hagans got out of his car and the police opened fire again. Police say a gun was found on the ground next to him.

Authorities say the suspect sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

The Connecticut State Police and the Hartford State’s Attorney’s Office will release the body-worn camera footage in the coming days.
