TSA to upgrade scanners used at airport checkpoints

Technology

TSA is making some upgrades that should mean an easier time at checkpoints.

The agency is buying 300 new scanners that can provide 3D images.

That means you’ll be able to leave your electronics in your bag.

The new machines will start arriving in some airports this summer.

In the next few years, software improvements are expected to allow passengers to leave liquids, gels and aerosols in carry-on luggage.
