Torrington FD extinguish 2nd alarm apartment fire, no injuries

The Torrington Fire Department responded to a second alarm structure fire around 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officials say the flames were found to be in the walls between the first and second floor of the apartment building. The second floor apartment tenant smelled smoke and called 911. When officials arrived, they reported seeing heavy smoke from the rear of the building in an alleyway.

Fire officials were able to put the fire out quickly.

There were no injuries reported. The American Red Cross was notified to possibly assist one resident.

The Fire Marshal investigated the origin of the fire and has conluded that it was caused by accident.
