NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) — President Joe Biden and top administration officials will open a new year of divided government by fanning out across the country to talk about how the economy is benefiting from his work with Democrats and Republicans.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg will visit Connecticut on Wednesday to help promote Biden’s economic policies. He is expected to discuss how the president’s economic plan is rebuilding our infrastructure.

Buttigieg will join Governor Ned Lamont, senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, and other transportation leaders to discuss a major federal investment in the Gold Star Memorial Bridge.

The news conference will celebrate that $158.2 million federal grant that Connecticut is receiving from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to accelerate repairs to the bridge. A little over one mile in length, the bridge is the largest structure in Connecticut.

The press conference is set to take place at 3 p.m.
