NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — State Police have issued a citation against the driver of a tractor-trailer involved in an accident that snarled traffic on I-91 Monday.

The accident report details that the tractor trailer, driven by 40-year-old James Maina Karugu of Newark, Del., was traveling in the right lane on I-91 southbound when Karugu lost control of the truck, causing it to jackknife and collide with a light pole in the right shoulder.

A minibus, traveling behind the trailer, was not able to stop in time and collided with the right side of tractor-trailer. All occupants of the minibus were transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Karugu was not injured in the crash.

Karugu was cited for traveling unreasonably fast for roadway conditions.
