EAST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Police arrested two men in East Haven Monday after investigations led police to arrest them for various sex crimes involving minors.

According to officials, after months of investigations assisted by the Guilford Police Department, police in East Haven arrested Brian Augur, 59, of East Haven, on first degree possession of child pornography charges.

In Dec. 2014, a search warrant was conducted at Augur’s home, where police seized numerous items including a laptop computer. Investigators discovered over 100 images of child pornography and over 50 child pornographic videos on Augur’s laptop.

Augur was arrested Monday and arraigned Tuesday in New Haven Superior court.

With the help of Connecticut State Police, East Haven police also arrested Jason Mahon, 36, of East Haven Monday.

Mahon faces a list of charges including second degree criminal attempt at sexual assault, enticing a minor, risk of injury to a minor and drug charges.

Police began the investigation after being notified that Mahon was soliciting a 14-year-old girl into sexual intercourse over text messages.

Officials arranged a meeting with Mahon, while he believed he was meeting up with the teenage girl he thought he was texting.

Officers arrested Mahon when he arrived at the meeting place. He was released on bond and is set to appear in New Haven Superior court on May 20.
