News

Police in Plainfield are investigating after two pedestrians were struck by a car Tuesday evening.

Plainfield Police, Fire, and members of the American Legion Ambulance responded to the McDonalds on Lanthrop Road

The two pedestrians hit told police they were walking southbound on Norwich Road, and attempted to use the crosswalk in front of Lathrop Road when a black-colored passenger car struck them. Police say the two victims were struck by the car’s front end.

Police have identified one of the victims as 20-year-old Christina Verge. The name of the 17-year-old victim has not been released.

Witnesses at the scene say the driver stopped and asked the women “if they were okay” before driving off.

The 17-year-old juvenile was transported to Backus Emergency Care Center to be treated for what police are calling “potential injuries”. There is no word if Verge sustained any injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. If you have any information regarding the incident, you are urged to contact the Plainfield Police Department at (860) 564-0804.
