Two men arrested for robbing motorcycle crash victim

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– Early Sunday morning, Christian Gonzalez, 19, of New Haven, came home from work and decided to ride his motorcycle to a friend’s house. Shortly after he started driving, he crashed near a fire hydrant. He says he saw four men running toward him and thought they were there to help. They weren’t.

Gonzalez says when he tried to get up, the four knocked him back down and took his wallet and his iPhone. Gonzalez says they tried to steal the motorcycle too but couldn’t get it started.

He was able to point out the suspects to police when they got there, and they arrested two of them, Francisco Ortiz, 45 of Enfield, and Helberto Vega, 45, of Tampa, Florida. Both are charged with robbery, larceny and conspiracy.
