A man facing multiple charges for the sexual assault of an 11-year-old family member in Oregon was apprehended in New Haven by U.S. Marshals.
According to officials, 36-year-old Carlos Isai Machic-Ajanel was taken into custody on Tuesday.
Authorities said Machic-Ajanel is the suspect in the sexual assault of a child in the fall of 2018.
He is currently charged with rape, sodomy, unlawful sexual penetration and sexual abuse.
Officials said the victim’s mother had contacted authorities after learning of the incident and Machic-Ajanel then fled the state.
While being a fugitive, he allegedly contacted the mother and victim from time to time and threatened them.
Authorities said Machic-Ajanel was identified through his musical ability while playing the saxophone in a local band.
He was tracked to New Haven where he was taken into custody without incident.
Machic-Ajanel is being held pending extradition to Oregon.
