Victim identified in Bridgeport homicide

Police are investigating after a 30-year-old man was shot and killed in Bridgeport on Tuesday evening.

Authorities have identified the victim as 30-year-old Edwin “Jeremy” Mangual of Bridgeport. 

Police say that at around 7:37 p.m., shots were fired in front of 73/75 Laurel Avenue and struck a man in the torso and in the neck.

The victim was found unresponsive at the scene before being taken to St. Vincent’s Medial Center where he was pronounced dead. 

According to police, the shooting wasn’t a random act of violence, but instead it appears that the victim was targeted by the shooters. 

The homicide remains under investigation at this time as detectives work to establish a motive.
