SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – It has been nearly two weeks since a naked Donald Trump statue was seized by San Francisco police.
Now, the artist is talking about the controversial piece.
Joshua “Ginger” Monroe visited Lefty O’ Doul’s, the San Francisco restaurant that has been trying to obtain the statue and put it on display.RELATED: Naked Donald Trump statues pop up in cities across the US
Monroe said he created the statues pro bono, commissioned by the activist group called Indecline.
The artist said he is grateful to live in a country that allows freedom of opinion and expression and hopes San Francisco police will release the statue for a greater good.
“I was actually really surprised that San Francisco police department is acting that way,” Monroe said. “I see what’s going on with some of the other cities and the tourist-type publicity that’s happening with it. And if anything, I would like to see them release it, so it can be used for auction because there’s a lot of good things that can come of that. Money could be raised to maybe help with the homeless situation here.”
A celebrity auction house in Los Angeles is expected to make at least $10,000 off one naked Trump piece.
The money will go to charity.
