Waterbury Man Arrested on Drug Charges


WATERTOWN, Conn. (WTNH)- A Waterbury man was arrested on drug charges, after a motor vehicle stop, and foot chase with police. 27-year-old Matthew Jones was pulled over on Buckingham Street in Watertown, for allegedly speeding. Police say, Jones admitted he had pot on him, so he was put in the back of the police cruiser while his car was searched, but he managed to get out of the cruiser and took off on foot. Officers say Jones was throwing drugs as he ran, but they were able to catch up to him, and arrest him.

Police found hundreds of new, empty heroin bags in Jones’ car and marijuana. And, police say Jones threw 35 bags of heroin and a number of small bags of crack cocaine as he ran.

Jones faces a number of charges and is due in court on May 12.
