Waterbury Police charge man with attempted murder

A man is facing an attempted murder charge in Waterbury.

On Saturday at approximately 6:00 p.m. Waterbury police were called to a building on North Main Street for a reported assault. 

Upon their arrival, police said they found a 76-year-old woman being strangled by 81-year-old John Jensen. 

The victim was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment and is currently listed in serious condition.

Jensen is facing numerous charges, including Criminal Attempt at Murder and Strangulation. His bond has been set at $1 million.

Waterbury Police tell News 8 that the victim was familiar with Jensen and that their relationship is under investigation. This is still an active and ongoing investigation.
