Webster Bank Arena on hold to help hospital overflow during coronavirus outbreak


BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — Bridgeport city officials say the Webster Bank Arena is now on a waiting list to be used as a site for hospital overflow for coronavirus patients.

The move will help hospitals overwhelmed with patients. It will have 128 beds and various medical equipment.’

Fairfield County has the most confirmed COVID-19 cases and deaths in the state.

As of Tuesday night, the plan is on hold as the state looks to set up sites at UConn in Stamford, and at Western and Southern Connecticut State Universities.
