Weekend gun buyback event collects 80+ firearms in Bridgeport

The Bridgeport Police Department and other participating organizations hosted a gun buyback event the past weekend with great success. 

The Police Commissioners Association of Connecticut, along with the Marilyn Goldstone Foundation and the Bridgeport Police Department, hosted the gun buyback event on May 11 and successfully helped take over 80 guns off the street, according to officials.

Police say dozens of people attended and turned in their unwanted guns in exchange for cash given by the Bridgeport Police Department.

Bridgeport City Council members, Mayor Joseph Ganim, and Senator Richard Blumenthal were also present.
