The Westport Fire Department were dispatched to Christ and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church on Wednesday night for the report of a fire alarm that sounded off in the building.
According to Westport fire officials, firefighters responded to a fire alarm at Christ and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church on 75 Church Lane at 8:24 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officials arrived on scene to find a heavy smoke condition in the church. Firefighters searched the church and found the fire in a room adjacent to the alter.
Westport fire crews extinguished the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
