Woman charged with DUI after man struck, killed in Windsor Locks

A woman was arrested on drunk driving charges after she allegedly struck and killed a man in Windsor Locks, early Thursday morning.

Police say just after midnight, officers received a 911 reporting a pedestrian hit on Old County Road, south of Halfway House Road.

Upon arrival, officers found 65-year-old Francis Franco, of Windsor Locks, laying in the roadway, suffering from a head injury.

The driver and lone occupant of the car, 37-year-old Ladonna Davis, of Windsor Locks, was also still  on scene and was comforting Franco.

Franco was then taken to St. Francis Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Police say based on information from the initial investigation, Davis was given a Field Sobriety Test which she didn’t perform to standard. She was then arrested and taken to police headquarters where she allegedly failed two breath tests.

Davis was charged with driving under the influence and held on $25,000 bond.

Police say the incident remains under investigation and additional charges are possible.
