Yale’s starting center plays more than just football

News

The Yale football team plays at Columbia Saturday, and a big key to the teams’ success has been the play of the offensive line. Starting center Steve Cepalia can really play, and not just football.

Cepalia is the lead guitar player in a rock band called Fifth Street, which is based in New Jersey. The junior has a real passion for music and football.

During the season its all football, but in the offseason the band plays wherever they can.

“We play wherever we can,” Cepalia said. “Obviously I can’t play during the season, but during the offseason… a lot of places in New Haven, a couple gigs in New York City.”

Fifth Street even got a chance to play at New Haven’s world famous Toad’s Place.

“There were just some great opportunities to go play at some legendary places, we had the Rolling Stones over at Toads.”

Cepalia gets plenty of ‘Satisfaction’ playing at Yale, but what would he do if had to choose between his two loves?

“Umm, I dont know. That would be a pretty tough decision, you know I wish I could do both. Who knows where it will take us, but were just gonna keep trying making music and have a good time doing it.”
