Capitol Report: Beer, Football, and the laws that could affect their industries

Senator Blumenthal is ready for some football. Blumenthal is now crusading for the NFL and other pro leagues to eliminate sports blackouts on television.

When teams don’t sell enough tickets to games, the NFL deal with cable providers allows them to take games off the air.

Blumenthal says the practice is “anti-consumer” and fans have “rightful access” to live games of their favorite teams regardless of where they live. It’s called the Fans Act.

Also, Connecticut’s craft beer taprooms are the ‘it’ places to be these days.

With several of the state’s beer and alcohol laws are getting an upgrade, this could pave the way for Connecticut distilleries to serve product in their own taprooms.

Distilleries tell Hearst Media this has hindered the growth and sustainability of their business.
