NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — If you’re going to run for political office in this day and age, you usually need these three things: the ability to raise a lot of money, some money of your own, and someone else willing to spend their own money to try and get you into office, without saying they’re specifically trying to do that.

The state Municipality Accountability Review Board voted to take control of the city of West Haven’s finances following an audit that shows the city misused nearly a million dollars in federal COVID-19 relief funding.
