Capitol Report: Connecticut’s casino battle

Capitol Report

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — Connecticut’s casino battle is heating up.

Last Monday, MGM rolled into Bridgeport, put their chips on the table, and announced plans for a $675 million casino and entertainment complex on Steelpointe Harbor.Related Content: MGM announces development of new casino in Bridgeport

MGM Chairman and Bridgeport-area native James Murren spoke on the potential project, saying, “I’m dead serious. I’ll give Hartford the check tomorrow and I don’t think anyone should count MGM out. We are very serious about being here. We have resolve. We know this is the right project for Connecticut. This is the right location. The idea of a slot box on I-91 is an ill-conceived idea that makes no economic sense for the state of Connecticut.”

MMCT Spokesman Andrew Doba joined the show to discuss the idea.
