(WTNH) – It wouldn’t be politics if Democrats and Republicans didn’t have something to squabble about. Over the years, we have had a growing divide between the parties, but opening day for Connecticut’s general assembly shed some light on how despite differences between the parties, there is mutual respect and admiration at the state Capitol.

During the nomination for House Speaker in Hartford, it was the exact opposite of what we witnessed in Washington last week.
