Capitol Report: Finance Committee votes to transfer bonding control to legislative panel

Ever since taking office, the most familiar phrase to pass Governor Ned Lamont’s lips are these two words: “Debt diet.”

So far, the governor is living up to his promise to pull back on borrowing.

The bond rating agencies like it, but members of the legislature aren’t pleased.

They want money for important projects in their cities and towns.

So, in an effort to steal the credit card back, the Finance Committee voted 46 to 4 to transfer bonding control to a legislative panel.
