Capitol Report: Lamont says toll gantries total would not surpass 50

In the world of politics, you have to compromise.

With toll opponents across the state kicking and screaming, Governor Ned Lamont announced last week the number of gantries on Connecticut highways would be no more than 50, a big drop from the original plan of 82.

The DOT estimates Connecticut drivers would pay $1.72 to go from New Haven to Hartford at peak hours, and $1.80 between Stamford and New Haven.

Despite the pushback on tolls, Gov. Lamont isn’t taking his foot off the gas pedal.
