Capitol Report: Tax on restaurant meals and supermarket prepared foods is going up

(WTNH) — On October 1st, the state tax on restaurant meals goes up by 1%, bringing the tax to 7.35%.

But here’s the rub: the same tax will now be slapped onto items such as supermarket prepared foods that were never subject to a tax before.

The panel discusses the tax hike and the effect on the average Connecticut resident.
