Celebrating Connecticut’s Moms: Meet Una Rose from Bridgeport

Connecticut Families

Mother’s Day is coming up, so, we turned to you, our viewers, to help us honor some of the state’s wonderful moms.

We asked folks to submit letters, explaining what makes their moms so special and we received some beautiful responses.

Today we hear from Marjorie McAllister, paying tribute to her mom, Una Rose, in Bridgeport.

My mom, Una Rose, is unstoppable.  She has a passion for children. She signed up with The Foster Grandparents program and makes her way to the school sunshine, rain or snow. Her undaunting love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren is impeccable. She is known by the children as “Grandma Rose” and in church as Mother Rose. She suffered a history of abuse as a child.  That is why she looks out for children. Mom is one of the best cooks and everyone rants about her cooking. She makes the best chicken soup and is an excellent seamstress. If asked why she does the things she does with such finesse and success, she will immediately tell you that it is her love for God that is the driving force behind her success in all she does. My mom is no doubt the tower of strength and still going strong at 87 years old. Happy Mother’s Day, Mom, we love you.

We’re celebrating moms all week!  Tune into News 8 at 9am and 5pm.
