“I wasn’t feeling good, heavy chested, I was coughing but I was getting around, just tired, lagging,” says Tiffany Esposito Stevenson, who was recently diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. “You don’t have time to process it because it all moves so fast.”
The mother of two – and veterinary technician – is struggling to find energy and can’t take part in the job she loves.
“Some days you can’t get off the bed, you’re so tired,” she explains. “Me not working, that’s a big financial hit and insurance only covers so much.”
So, folks in Cheshire, where Tiffany grew-up and now resides, are stepping-up, hosting a town wide fundraiser this coming weekend, organized, in part by realtor Erik Vazquez.
“I find this to be an enormously friendly and generous town,” he says.
Gary Richards is also helping out. He went to school with Tiffant and was deeply affected by her diagnosis.
“I explained it as one of those feelings like getting t-boned at an intersection,” he says. “My heart just sank.”
On Sunday, friends, family and strangers will gather at the Cheshire West Community Butterfly Gardens and Farmington Linear Heritage Trail for a meaningful event.
“We’re going to invite the public to come down and make get well cards for Tiffany,” he explains. “We have deep roots…we’re creating a special weekend for Tiffany and her family.”
“This team – they are wonder workers,” says Tiffany with emotion. “They’ve gotten the community together in such a way I’ve never seen.”
Tiffany’s Warriors are taking over Cheshire – an effort involving more than twenty businesses. It’s a heartfelt gesture that’s all about support, community and friendship.
“I love this town,” says Tiffany. “I’ve seen the community – for other people – come together and to think they’ve come together for me, it melts my heart.”
The Cheshire wide blitz – May 17, 18 & 19 – includes a pizza fundraiser on Friday, a spin-a-thon on Saturday and the “Get Well Card” event on Sunday.
