Quinnipiac University is bringing patients, their families and researchers together to make a difference on Rare Disease Day.
Rare Disease Day is February 27th. Although each individual rare disease is rare, together they affect nearly 1 in 10 Americans. There are over 7,000 identified rare diseases.
The theme for Quinnipiac’s Rare Disease Day 2019 is Bridging Health and Social Care.
Roberta Solimene, an adjunct professor of occupational therapy at Quinnipiac, lost her husband Robert in April 2017 to a rare disease called Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD).
If you or a loved one is searching for support when it comes to CJD, you can call 1800-659-1991 or click here.
The rare disease event takes place from 1pm-4:30pm on Wednesday, Feb. 27th in the Center for Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Quinnipiac.
The event is free and open to the public.
