Thousands of runners will be lacing up their sneakers for the Hartford Marathon on October 13th. Many people associate running with physical wellbeing, but it can improve your mental health as well.

Rufino Medina is taking part in his first marathon this year at the Hartford Marathon. He says running has helped him with his road to recovery. He is proud to be 8 years sober from substance abuse.

Medina says running gave him a freeing feeling that helped him stay on top of his sobriety.

Medina is running to raise money for the non-profit Mental Health CT.
