April is National Volunteer Month. Young people in the Greater Waterbury area will now have a great opportunoty to give back and build a better future.
The Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board (NRWIB) was recently awarded a $1.1M YouthBuild Grant award by the U.S. Department of Labor.
The NRWIB has partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Waterbury, the Waterbury Police Activity League and Waterbury Adult Continuing Education, and Industrial Management & Training Institute.
YouthBuild is an education and training program with a strong pre-apprenticeship component that helps at-risk youth complete high school or state equivalency degree programs, earn industry-recognized credentials for in-demand occupations and undergo training to build housing for low-income or homeless individuals and families.
