National Vegan Month with a vegan recipe for thanksiving

(WTNH)- It’s National Vegan Month and of course we are celebrating the plant based lifestyle here at the studio.

Local Chef, Kashia Cave, with MCK Gourmet Kitchen, came to Good Morning Connecticut to put together a vegan spread!

Living a vegan or plant-based lifestyle means you do not consume meat or animal by-products. This includes popular foods, like milk and honey, as well as foods that may not initially come to mind, like jello and red food dye. 

This month is a great opportunity to experiment with a plant-based diet if this is something that interests you. Whether you’re concerned about creating a healthier lifestyle or would like to make conscious food choices for ethical or environmental reasons, there are plenty of simple ways to start a plant-based diet!

Cave said the first step is to start slow. Don’t try to completely eliminate all animal products out of your diet right away.  The second step is to find support. Join vegan or plant-based groups online or engage with local plant-based foodies. The third step, to start at the grocery store. Remove temptations from your kitchen and try to buy only plant-based products during your next shopping trip. And the last tip, Look at the nutrition label.  It isn’t always evident if a product is vegan, but looking at the label will tell all.
