(WTNH)-During these dog days of summer when it’s too hot to turn on your stove, consider making zucchini noodles with a fresh, no- cook tomato sauce for a perfectly seasonal meal.

Local Food blogger, Liz Rueven, came to Good Morning Connecticut to show us how to make this tasty dish.

Summer zucchini, tomatoes and basil are bursting in home gardens with an abundance that’s sometimes hard to manage. Rueven says this recipe will highlight these ingredients and provide gluten-free, vegetarian goodness while you’re at it. With a recipe like this one, your kitchen will stay as cool as the cook!

She says if you aren’t growing veggies at home, CT Farmers’ markets are piled high with zucchini, tomatoes and lots of herbs at this time. Feel free to substitute yellow squash for zucchini and your oregano if you don’t have basil.
