He jumped into the coffee business 13 years ago without knowing much about beans.
It started with the purchase of a coffee roaster, then more equipment. His passion grew and J. René Coffee Roasters in West Hartford was born.
José Rene Martinez has built a tight community in his place. One of the coffee brands he offers is called Victus, which helps non-profits who promote wellness, social advocacy and empowerment through endurance sports, including the cycling community abroad and here in the U.S.
There’s no wifi in place because he wants people to have real conversations and make connections.
He’s travelled the world in search of what the coffee business is all about, and meeting those who are behind the growing and harvesting process and discovering why it’s so important for him to help others.
Martinez also has retro mobile coffee units parked at Clinton Crossing Premium Outlets and at the Connecticut Science Center in Hartford. To visit the J. René Coffee Roasters website, click here.
