QU student on a mission to make fast food healthy

Nyberg

His Mom and Dad own diners in the state, so he’s been around the food business his whole life.
Twenty-one year old Kostas Sousoulas is a senior at Quinnipiac University but already has his own business with help from the school.

It’s called Yimello Smoothies! He has a food truck which serves these all natural fruit concoctions and just last week, the frozen fruit packets were in all but a handful of Big Y grocery stores.

“Right now we do retail and food service, we also sell these in various coffee shops and restaurants. My goal would be to have Yimello health brand, so maybe protein bars, other innovative products, under the name. We believe in making healthy food fast, so eating fast food that’s healthy, so I want to create products like that are really quick and easy to make, but all natural and very very good for you.”

This 21-year-old is well on his way.

“You came up with three flavors so far, what are the three flavors? This one is the berry good breakfast, it’s strawberry, blueberry and banana and I prepared this one with almond milk today, this one’s the South Beach that you see here, that’s pineapple mango, banana and this one which is strawberries and bananas and each bag is just fresh frozen fruit and nothing else added, it’s non GMO and gluten free.”

Veggie smoothies are planned in the future.
